The revised model was created by removing material without adding any new components. Upon examining the design, it became apparent that all loads acted within the XY plane, warranting an I-beam cross section for optimal support in construction engineering. This condition was taken into account when constructing the new geometry. The original model, devoid of bearings, had a volume of 109674.75 mm^3, while the optimized version reduced it to 54152.44 mm^3, equating to a 50.62% weight loss. This simplified design is easy to manufacture and avoids intricate details that could hinder printing. Internal surface transitions are filleted to prevent stress concentrations. A FEA analysis using COSMOSWORKS was conducted for three load cases, with results indicating stress levels below the yield point. To incorporate an extra safety factor, walls could be slightly thickened at the designer's discretion. While this solution serves as a concept, additional fillets and openings may be added if deemed necessary. However, caution is advised as these alterations might complicate the geometry without significantly reducing volume or increasing strength. Ultimately, the purpose of this design is functionality, not ornamentation.
