Albatrosses comprise a family of large seabirds that are part of the Procellariiformes order, which also includes procellarids, hydrobats and pelicanoids. These birds inhabit nearly all areas of the Antarctic Ocean, Pacific Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean. As one of the largest flying bird species, albatrosses are notable for their massive wingspans. The great albatross (genus Diomedea) boasts the largest wingspan among all existing species today.
