Al-Thuqaibah - Basin 58
sketchfab
Al-Thuqaibah is an Iron Age II settlement that thrived for over four centuries, spanning from 1000 to 600 BCE. Situated south of Dhaid at the southern extremity of Al Madam oasis in central Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates, this ancient site has been meticulously explored by archaeological teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain over the past three decades. Their excavations have unveiled a wealth of discoveries, including remarkably preserved mud-brick houses, lush gardens, and evidence of a thriving industry that manufactured these same mud bricks. Scattered throughout the muddy bottoms of small basins are hundreds of perfectly preserved human footprints. GDH has successfully employed cutting-edge high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry techniques to meticulously document the basins and their contents. This remarkable effort is exemplified by basin 58, which was painstakingly processed in Reality Capture from an astonishing 338 images.
