Al-Thuqaibah - Basin 53
sketchfab
Al-Thuqaibah dates back to Iron Age II, spanning a period of 1000 to 600 BCE. Situated south of Dhaid, this ancient settlement sits at the southern end of Al Madam oasis within the central part of Sharjah Emirate in the United Arab Emirates. Over the past 30 years, archaeological teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain have extensively investigated the site, unearthing mud-brick houses, gardens, and evidence of mud-brick production. Hundreds of preserved footprints are visible at the bottom of small basins, where the terrain has miraculously preserved them. The Global Digital Heritage (GDH) initiative took high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry to a new level by documenting the basins and their contents in exquisite detail. A prime example is basin 53, which underwent high-tech processing via Reality Capture from an impressive array of 510 images.
