The ancient settlement of Al-Thuqaibah dates back to the Iron Age II, spanning an impressive 1,400 years, from 1000 to 600 BCE. Situated south of Dhaid, at the southern extremity of the vast Al Madam oasis in central Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates, this archaeological gem has captivated researchers for over three decades. Teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain have painstakingly excavated the site, unearthing a wealth of information about the lives of its ancient inhabitants, including intricately constructed mud-brick houses, lush gardens, and evidence of sophisticated mud-brick manufacturing techniques. Moreover, hundreds of remarkably well-preserved footprints are embedded in the mud at the bottom of small basins, offering a unique glimpse into the daily lives of those who once called Al-Thuqaibah home. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry, the Global Discovery team was able to meticulously document the intricate details within basin 41, using Reality Capture software to process an astonishing 449 images from this particular site.
