Al-Thuqaibah, a sprawling Iron Age II settlement that thrived between 1000 and 600 BCE, lies nestled at the southern end of Al Madam oasis in the Sharjah Emirate's central region. Situated south of Dhaid, this ancient site has been extensively explored by archaeological teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain over the past three decades, revealing a treasure trove of discoveries that shed light on the lives of its long-lost inhabitants. Mud-brick houses, lush gardens, and evidence of mud-brick manufacturing have all been uncovered at Al-Thuqaibah, providing a unique glimpse into the daily existence of this ancient civilization. Furthermore, the site boasts an astonishing number of preserved footprints, carefully preserved in the muddy depths of small basins that dot the landscape. In a groundbreaking effort to document these features, GDH has employed cutting-edge technology, including high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry, to meticulously capture the details of basin 39, processing no fewer than 257 images through Reality Capture software.
