Archaeologists have uncovered evidence that points to Al-Thuqaibah as a thriving Iron Age II settlement, dating back around 1400 years to approximately 600 BCE. Located south of Dhaid at the southern end of the Al Madam oasis in central Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates, this ancient site has been extensively investigated over the past three decades by teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain. The excavations have revealed a wealth of information about daily life during that time period, including preserved mud-brick houses, beautifully landscaped gardens, and evidence of advanced mud-brick manufacturing techniques. Thousands of well-preserved footprints are also embedded in the mud at the bottom of small basins, providing valuable insights into the lives of the people who once inhabited this ancient settlement. A team from GDH has used high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry to meticulously document the basins and their contents, creating a detailed 3D model of one of the basins, basin 29, using data captured from an impressive 270 images with Reality Capture.
