Al-Thuqaibah - Basin 28/32
sketchfab
Archaeologists have long studied Al-Thuqaibah, a thriving Iron Age II settlement that flourished from 1000 to 600 BCE. Situated south of Dhaid at the southern tip of the Al Madam oasis, this ancient community lies within the central heartland of the Sharjah Emirate in the United Arab Emirates. Over three decades, archaeologists from Sharjah, France, and Spain have conducted extensive excavations, unearthing remnants of mud-brick houses, verdant gardens, and evidence of ancient mud-brick manufacturing techniques. The muddy bottoms of small basins hold a remarkable secret - hundreds of preserved footprints remain intact, offering a unique glimpse into the daily lives of Al-Thuqaibah's inhabitants. Using advanced technology, the Global Digital Heritage (GDH) organization has completed high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry to meticulously document these basins and their contents, including Basins 28 and 32, which were carefully processed in Reality Capture from a staggering 418 images.
