Al-Thuqaibah - Basin 25

Al-Thuqaibah, a thriving Iron Age II settlement, flourished between 1000 and 600 BCE. Situated south of Dhaid at the southern tip of Al Madam oasis in central Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates, it has been extensively explored by archaeologists from Sharjah, France, and Spain over the past three decades. The excavations have revealed mud-brick homes, lush gardens, and clear evidence of ancient mud-brick production methods. Hundreds of preserved footprints remain at the bottom of small basins, perfectly preserved in the thick mud. A team from GDH successfully used high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry to meticulously document the basins and their contents. Basin 25 has been processed using Reality Capture technology from 247 distinct images.
