Al-Thuqaibah - Basin 16
sketchfab
Al-Thuqaibah, a sprawling Iron Age II settlement that thrived between 1000 and 600 BCE, is situated just south of Dhaid at the southern tip of Al Madam oasis in central Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates. Over three decades, archaeological teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain have thoroughly investigated this site, unearthing mud-brick houses, lush gardens, and compelling evidence of mud-brick production. Hundreds of remarkably preserved footprints remain hidden at the bottom of numerous small basins, their impressions frozen in time like a snapshot of the past. Recent advances in technology allowed GDH to meticulously scan and document these basins and their contents using high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry. The results are evident in basin 16, skillfully processed from an impressive 253 images captured by Reality Capture software.
