Al-Thuqaibah - Basin 12
sketchfab
Al-Thuqaibah is a sprawling Iron Age II settlement that flourished between 1000 and 600 BCE. Situated south of Dhaid, it occupies the southern end of Al Madam oasis in central Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates. Over three decades, archaeological teams from Sharjah, France, and Spain have thoroughly investigated this site, unearthing mud-brick houses, lush gardens, and compelling evidence of ancient mud-brick manufacturing techniques. Amidst the muddy depths of small basins lie hundreds of remarkably preserved footprints, a testament to the lives of those who once inhabited Al-Thuqaibah. As part of an ambitious initiative, GDH has employed cutting-edge scanning technology and photogrammetry to meticulously document these basins and their preserved features. Among the most remarkable examples is basin 12, expertly processed in Reality Capture from an astonishing 344 images.
