The ancient Syrian madrasa, al-Jaqmaqiya, was constructed between 1418 and 1420 by the governor of Damascus, Jaqmaq al-Arghunshawi, as a testament to his legacy. This grand structure not only served as an Islamic religious school but also doubled as a multi-functional complex that seamlessly integrated a mosque and mausoleum with areas for teaching and housing students.
