Al Khudaira 2, T20 Excavation, Sharjah

The T20 Tomb of al-Khudaira archaeological site (Sharjah, UAE) was unearthed by Spanish archaeologists from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in February 2020, with financial backing from the Sharjah Archaeological Authority. First, archaeologists excavated a burial chamber. It contained five consecutive layers comprising only tiny fragments of human remains, indicating that looters had ravaged the tomb centuries ago. Next, they cleared away debris covering the outer walls of the burial structure. Photographs reveal an empty burial chamber and initial stages of exterior collapse removal.
