Al-Khazneh (Arabic: Al Khaznah; "The Vault"), stands out as one of Petra's most impressive temples, situated in the ancient Arab Nabatean Kingdom city. Like other structures in this historic town, including the Monastery (Arabic: Ad Deir), it was expertly carved from a sandstone rock face. Originally constructed as a majestic mausoleum and underground crypt at the dawn of the 1st century AD during Aretas IV Philopatris's reign, Al-Khazneh is a testament to the ingenuity of its ancient architects. With influences from classical Greek architecture, this magnificent temple was built by the Arab Nabateans at a time when their kingdom flourished alongside the Hellenistic and Roman Empires. Today, Al-Khazneh attracts numerous tourists in Jordan and the surrounding region, captivating them with its grandeur and historical significance.
