This is the compact carbine version of the AK-74, replacing the dependable AKM as the top choice. It fires the smaller 5.45x39mm cartridge. The shorter length makes it ideal for close combat or indoor fighting. The sights are specifically designed for quick target acquisition and outperform those on the full-size AK-74. However, this compact rifle falls short in accuracy, mainly due to its shortened barrel and significantly reduced sight radius. The dispersion of the AKS-74U is notably higher than that of most other automatic weapons. Its dispersion is double that of the AK74 when both are stock or naked, and triple that fully equipped - even without a bipod.
