Akhenaten, also known as Amenhotep IV, was an influential pharaoh during ancient Egypt's golden era. Despite later rulers attempting to erase his legacy, he began his reign as a co-regent with his father, Amenhotep III. As Akhenaten, however, he broke tradition by constructing a Temple for the Aten at Karnak and celebrating a Sed-festival in his third year of rule, presenting the Aten as an alternative to Amun-Ra.
