AKG K240 Rubber Loop 2040M03030 replacement for hair elastic
thingiverse
I own a pair of vintage AKG headphones in the K240 family and I'm on a mission to upgrade them with style. Rather than shelling out $2.62 each for official replacement parts, I'm opting for a more affordable solution - using a cheap commodity hair elastic to replace the original factory rubber loop. But I'm not about to get creative by just stringing the elastic through the button on the strap; no way, that's too hackish for my taste. Fortunately, my 3D printer is here to save the day! After researching online, I discovered that 2mm large black elastics are roughly the same as the original elastic AKG part. In fact, I found a perfect match at Target: Goody thin black elastics (51ct). These should fit not only my AKG headphones but also other popular models like the Superlux HD681B and the Presonus HD7. As it turns out, these headphones are actually clones of each other - the HD681 is a K240 clone and the HD7 is just an HD681 re-branded. And if you're wondering about those "that looks a lot like an AKG" Chinese headphones, they might very well be Superluxes that use the same part. The K240 family is actually a broader range of headphones than I initially thought - it includes not only the classic K240 but also the K141, all versions of the K270 and K271, K171, K272, K280 Parabolic, and K290 Surround. And let's not forget about other models like the K250, K260, K340, Philips SBC 3178, and the Realistic Pro 50 - they use a different design altogether.
