Ajinomoto Stadium, located in Chōfu, Tokyo, Japan, is a versatile sports venue established in March 2001. Originally situated in Kantō Mura, the area previously utilized by United States Forces Japan, it was the first Japanese stadium to sell its naming rights, which were acquired by Ajinomoto Co. The stadium serves as the home ground for J1 League team FC Tokyo and J2 League club Tokyo Verdy, also hosting lower division football leagues' matches. Additionally, rugby union and American football games are held at this venue. The stadium is among the planned venues for the 2020 Summer Olympics; however, during this event, it will be referred to as Tokyo Stadium due to International Olympic Committee's non-commercialization policy. Moreover, it has been selected as a venue for the 2019 Rugby World Cup and will host both the opening ceremony and the tournament's inaugural match. The stadium boasts a design flexible enough to accommodate pitches for American football and rugby.
