HD Series Enclosure Panels are showcased on my HDx but will work on all models except for the HDR, which already has a built-in enclosure. I needed a way to contain heat inside the printer so that I get optimal layer adhesion with ABS and other high-temperature materials. Update 2/28/15: I've revised the mounts to add extra strength, as the previous version cracked under the force of magnets and steel washers. I've also modified the knobs to make them easier to print by creating a flat surface at the top. To install the left side panel, remove the four screws holding the Viki in place, move the Viki unit without unplugging, slide the left panel into position, and secure it with the screw that holds the spool holder in place. I noticed a minor mismatch between the front panel and the side panel mounts; the holes in the side panels need to be about 1/8 inch higher. I've updated the dxf file for this issue. Update 10/22/15: I found that the hood can cause excessive heat buildup, leading to premature aging of ABS parts in the build area. The belt mounts on my printer cracked under normal load; thankfully, Airwolf3D replaced them under warranty and resolved the problem without an issue. The acrylic panels are sourced from Pololu Laser Cutting at www.pololu.com, with a cost of $66 plus shipping for three 1/16-inch clear acrylic laser-cut panels. I can be contacted through their website. To complete installation: the knobs need to have #10-32 screw threads tapped or you can install threaded inserts in the part. I included small screw holes on the panels but they are not essential; if you prefer, remove them by revising the dxf file.
