Airwolf HD2x Chimera Mount
thingiverse
I designed a custom chimera with volcano hotends for my Airwolf printer, and here's how it works: There's an included back plate that lets me attach something - like in the picture. You can print this without supports because the parts cooling fan is a standard 30mm fan. This design makes the Airwolf hotend completely interchangeable, and you won't need to print any other parts. Just extend the legs or arms to trip the end stops and you're good to go. I used the 4mm adjustment screw from my stock hotend on this unit, but if you don't want to take it from there, you can just get a 4mm screw and nut that's at least 20mm long. Once you try this out, I promise you'll never go back to your old setup. There's a hole next to the parts cooling fan where I ran the stock ptfe tubing through. Then I put a washer over a 4mm bolt and threaded it into the stock tubing - that gave me something to run wires to the back of the printer without adding extra weight to the 1.75mm ptfe tubing. You can do it however you want, of course. As always, tips are appreciated.
