Airwolf HD(x) Extruder
thingiverse
I HATED the original filament extruder assembly on my Airwolf HDx. I don't know if anybody other than me even uses this printer any more, but I'll throw this out there just in case. This assembly uses most of the hardware from the original, with a few additions (in the pictures). (1) 1/4-20x4" bolt (1) 1/4-20 furniture nut (The barrel piece used as the pivot point for the bolt. I'm not sure of the exact name, but at Ace Hardware, it's in the bin labeled "Furniture Hardware") (2) 1/4" washers (1) 1/4-20 wing nut (1) Spring (just experiment, I don't know what this spring is other than it fits over the 1/4" bolt and its difficult to compress with my fingers) (3) 3mm diameter x 10mm long, tapered head screw. About 1-2mm will need to be trimmed off so it doesn't pierce the bowden tube too deep. Original hardware NOT used: (1)Bowden tube connector (2) Springs (1) 8mm Flat Washer The base (large flat piece) can be printed with no supports if you orient it flat side down. The other two need supports. The tensioner I suggest printing with the "cup" sideways/horizontal. This requires more support, but makes the hinge point stronger. I've included a picture showing the order of assembly of the hobbed bolt. The rest is pretty self explanatory from the other photos. Note that the bearing and small axle that sit inside the tensioner do NOT need washers. I recommend putting thread lock on the 1/4" bolt where it threads into the furniture piece. You'll see what I mean when you use it.
