Airtripper bowden for E3D V6 Kit with Bowden AddOn
thingiverse
The main concept behind the modification is achieving optimal PTFE tubing configuration. Following E3D's recommendation at http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/File:V6_Assembly_-_Half_a_Wades_Block.jpg, the PTFE tube is placed inside the extruder, reaching close to the MK8 gear. Filament exposure is minimized for ideal flow, and the tube remains stable on both sides. A E3D plastic pneufit at the outgoing side, provided by "E3D full kit with bowden add-on", along with a M4 nut at the ingoing side keeps it in place. It's essential to note that the M4 nut will press the PTFE tube, narrowing its I.D. Users are advised to drill the entire narrow part of the tube using a 2mm bit to restore its I.D. to 2mm for proper filament flow. A significant bottleneck will form otherwise. Extruder mounting holes have been moved further back for easier access. This mod concept originated from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:661936. The recommended modified idler with enhanced tension against the MK8 gear can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:487891, producing smoother filament flow. With a Prusa i3 Rework X_Carriage as seen here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:119616, hotend mounting with fans for balanced cooling can also be utilized, and a remix for auto bed leveling at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:757336 shows excellent results. Users have the option of the E3D V6 40mm Fan mount available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:506958 for level cooling. The Prusa i3 Rework X_Carriage has two 50x50mm 12v fans for level cooling, along with one 40x40mm for E3D V6 Heatsink cooling. Other required components include the Coldend Bowden Extruder found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:731585 and Axle and Strut for cold-end from Airtripper's original BSP Design seen here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:126778. In terms of modified idlers, a recommendation is to install the one found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:487891, for extra tension against MK8 gear for improved flow. Users will need additional components such as the MK8 Drive gear, 608ZZ bearing, M4 Nut, M3 Bolts and nuts, along with two springs. For Hotend Fan Recommendations, the user can replace the original 30mm E3D fan with a 40x40x20 mm fan running at 7v instead of 12v to improve quality prints and reduce noise. By connecting the fan's negative to the 5v supply line from an ATX PSU and its positive side to the 12v supply line, users can obtain the required 7v for smooth operation. Thanks go out to Airtripper for his fantastic contribution of openSCAD source for these designs found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:126778.
