My take on a DIY drum for the Tokyo Marui Airsoft AA-12 is based on a M249 box mag. To replicate this design, disassemble the box mag and extract the mechanical parts inside as one complete module. Next, cut down the module to shape and shorten the feed tube to fit perfectly. This process is straightforward, and assembly can be completed by press-fitting the components together. For visual guidance, refer to the included picture. To secure the lock in place, use 3mm pins, while self-tapping screws are ideal for attaching the cover. I personally utilized Spaenaur #7 x 1/2 screws for this purpose. For optimal operation, it is highly recommended that you rewire the entire system and feed the motor directly from a 9V battery using a remote push-button. The included sound-detection circuit is not capable of keeping up with the AA-12's rapid fire rate and may overheat when powered by a 9V battery. To bypass this issue, drill a hole in the back of the drum and install your button there. Alternatively, you can wire it to a 3.5mm jack for added versatility and the ability to use aftermarket remote buttons.
