Airsoft Target Pellet Trap
thingiverse
This is my take on an airsoft target holder that includes a built-in pellet trap, designed specifically for 140mm square targets. The immediate trap funnels pellets into a separate catcher compartment for easy containment and disposal. It can be used either free-standing or by hanging. **Tested with 6mm 0.20g plastic BBs at approximately 300fps only** Print the main body on its back (without supports) using a 0.32mm layer height and four perimeters to reduce printing time and increase strength and layer adhesion. Print the target clips and catcher door with a 0.2mm layer height for added fitting quality. The trap walls are 3.2mm thick, which means they will print solid. They can withstand my airsoft pistol, a standard model that shoots 6mm 0.20g plastic BBs at 320fps. However, I doubt they will stand up to steel BBs or lead pellets. Your mileage may vary. Glue in three target clips using Superglue. Fit the catcher compartment door with a length of filament as a hinge. If you find the holes for the door hinge too small to easily insert the filament, heat the end of a 1.5mm Allen key with a lighter to clear the holes. After fitting the door, snip off excess filament and heat the ends before flattening them into place. I had some suggestions for reducing the energy from BBs using foam or denim, as well as strengthening the strike plates with metal for steel pellets. Regardless of your decision, I have included a template to help you cut out the shape needed for the strike plate in .DXF, .SVG, and .STL formats (single layer).
