So, here's my take on creating a picatinny rail and compensator for the KJW M9 GBB pistol. It is a remix from an existing design published here, credits to the original designer, and customized it to fit my own requirements. It is divided into 3 parts:Main Rail Bodyit has 3 mounting position to fit your accessories e.g. laser or flashlight, since the original M9 doesn't have any.equipped with thumb lever/kickdown on its left side, so unfortunately it is no longer ambidextrousMounting points for the compensator on the front side, so that the compensator can be easily detached for quick barrel field stripFor optimum fit, the rail is provided with M3 screw hole so that it can be screwed directly to the main frame using M3 flathead screw to retain flushness of the rails. Pls note that you need to drill and tap the main frame on the correct position. There's a second version of the Main Rail without the latching mechanism of the compensator to keep the profile slim. Rail FastenerTo securely mount the main rail using 2 M3 screw. I'm using a button screw type coupled with M3 locknut to provide optimum tightness. Screw length adjusted accordingly. It has 2 switchable version, one is the plain type, the second is equipped with a sort of foregrip for the offhand finger to rest on. Choose one you prefer to fit your grip style. CompensatorI mainly used the compensator to accommodate and hide the custom extended inner barrel. The barrel I used is slightly thinner in diameter than the original barrel, and so does the compensator barrel hole. I haven't tested when using a standard length and thickness barrel, but i somehow feel it may impact accuracy. Pls adjust accordingly if you plan on using it with standard barrel.I try to re-worked the compensator from the original design to better fit the M9 styling and a bit away from the "Robocop pistol" looks. it's a matter of taste actually.I added the second variant of the compensator to accomodate a detachable top picatinny rail.I also hollowed out the design to shave off some weight and materials.Top Mount Picatinny Raildetacahable rails, placed on top of the compensator. I'm planning to use it for a red-dot sight. I figured it might be the ideal placement since it won't get affected by the slide recoil. Ensure to use a small sized red-dot sight otherwise it will get too front and top heavy.using a split type picatinny type so the factory front iron sight is still usable when no attachment is installed.can be fixed using M2 flathead screw and bolt, or not if prefer a quick releaseI printed it using a resin printer, so if you're using a filament printed, an adjustment maybe required regarding fitment and clearance.Update:updated the Compensator design, mainly for the latching mechanism. It works, but it is not yet perfect. You're welcome to alter the design to improve it, and kindly share your work if you do..updated the Main Rail design, adding the second varian without the latching mechanismupdated the Compensator design to accommodate additional top railThis is an old design and I no longer updated this.
