I acquired a top-notch EMG Salient Arms Hi-Capa variant Co2 GBB airsoft pistol from an Evike Box of Awesomeness. This particular model boasts a rugged heavy metal base plate for the magazine, along with a spring-loaded latch that securely holds it in place. Additionally, its sensitive mag release mechanism demands precise handling, as I discovered on my first day with it - a slight bump caused the mag to fall and snap the tiny little latch. Fortunately, this model has proven to be a reliable solution for me! After thorough testing, I'm pleased to report that it works remarkably well, although its durability is still uncertain, so I make sure to carry a stash of them in my airsoft gear bag, along with some spare 3D printed base plates. I take great care when printing the replacement base plates, using a high infill setting of 100% and a precise .1mm resolution (with supports) to maximize their strength. I find it easier to use if you first compress the spring, then slide the latch into the magazine groove, allowing the spring to seat on it - otherwise, the latch may try to slip in crookedly if attached first.
