Airsoft Blade
thingiverse
This is a Magnetic Slip Release Knife for those who want to get up close and personal in an Airsoft battle. My kids love it too! Two blade styles are available, so you can choose the one that suits you best. Be responsible! Check out this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gXoavYhm-Q&feature=youtu.be After printing, make sure to lightly sand the surfaces that rub in order to get a smooth release and return. You'll need four 1/4" x 1/16" disc Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets per knife. Place the magnets with the correct poles facing each other, or the return will not work properly. You can buy these magnets on Amazon, but be aware that they may be out of stock. Try finding them at https://www.apexmagnets.com/1-4-x-1-16-disc instead? In addition to the magnets, you'll also need six 2-56 pan head 3/4" machine screws and nuts. Get these at McMaster-Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com The groove cut into the hilt is perfect for embedding a 1.75mm filament. First, form it, then superglue it in place and clamp it down to dry. By the way, I ran into an issue with my print software claiming there was a problem with the right grip, but a Max .stl check said everything was fine. I had no trouble printing it, so hopefully you won't either. If you choose the thorn blade, be prepared for a lot of finishing work, including sanding and filing to eliminate holes and rounded edges created by material width. Note that I left the cut extra tight to make this easier. Just a reminder: take responsibility for your actions! I'm not liable if you get caught with this at school and face disciplinary action.
