This is another custom barrel spacer designed specifically for Airsoft type 96 applications. Frustrated with existing spacers on the market, I took matters into my own hands and created one from scratch. This spacer is engineered to work seamlessly with TPU or other flexible materials, ensuring a smooth fit every time. When it comes to ABS or PLA, however, things get tricky. These materials are not designed for this application and may suffer damage if forced into place. To avoid any potential issues, I recommend printing three of these spacers and spacing them evenly along the barrel. The lead-in edges on this spacer feature a tapered and rounded design, making it effortless to insert the inner barrel and press it into the outer barrel. This thoughtful touch eliminates any resistance or friction, ensuring a smooth installation process every time. I've provided four different file options for you to choose from, each catering to specific needs and preferences: 1. Exactfit: This option is tailored to fit perfectly within the barrel without requiring excessive force. 2. 006overfit: Similar to exactfit, but with an extra .006" added to both inner and outer diameters for a snugger press-in fit. 3. 012overfit: Just like exactfit, but with an additional .012" added to both diameters for an even tighter interference fit. Despite this, the TPU remains flexible enough to accommodate it, although installation becomes more challenging. 4. l96spacer.prt: The original CAD file, available if you'd like to customize or modify it according to your needs. In my experience, the 006overfit option works particularly well for my setup, but keep in mind that results may vary depending on gun tolerances and printer settings. To achieve a stiff yet slightly squishy spacer, I filled each one at 40% with two outer shells. This unique combination provides an ideal balance of support and flexibility.
