Airsoft 3d print Impact test

Airsoft 3d print Impact test

this test is an attempt to standardise impact testing for 3d printed airsoft materials, it is not an absolute test, infil and shape will still have a far greater impact on its ability to survive without damage however it will allow for the comparison between materials in the same geometry, the sample is constrained at both ends, this is to prevent the leverage from failing the part at the base, the part should be printed at 100% infil (if trying to compare against other materials) or at your desired wall count if testing your own print settings, the print results will be orientation dependant and so be sure to test in both orientations and to take note of results for each. once printed the testing process is to place the parteither inside a vice clamped just enough to prevent slipping or placed rear side down on a table, then with eye pro and face pro on (if the print doesnt fail it WILL ricochet and hit you in the face) shoot one .25g bb into the sample section of each thickness just once at a speed of 350fps (as mesured on a .2g bb) or 325 at the bb weight used, this approximates to 1.15j. other poweres are able to be used but their data MUST be recorded seperate to this method. once one shot has been fired into each record your results here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y5AZJaHtyW1xiGNRwbVo18eeFoiu5K6RnGh-MJwn7jQ/edit?usp=sharing it is a pass/fail for the FIRST bb, small cracks or surface deformation doesn't count, just either a hole or significant damage, down the line if we end up with too much bunching around a certain thickness a less graduated test will be developed for, for e.g., between 4 and 6mm or 6 and 10 to allow for greater difference between them. please undertake your due diligence in filling out the data in the best way possible and with any luck soon we will have a large amount of airsoft accurate impact resistance data! happy shooting!
