My First Attempt at a 3D Printable Windmill I'm thrilled to share my initial prototype of a 3D printable windmill, which harnesses the power of an old CD drive closer motor and converts it into electricity that fuels a 3V LED. There's still plenty of room for improvement, so I'd be delighted to hear your suggestions in the comments. As it stands now, this design has a transition period around 1:30, but I believe it's too long. A lot of friction is involved, which requires significant airflow to get started. The motor spins faster than necessary when it kicks into gear, which suggests some tweaks are needed. To address this issue, I've modified a 16" propeller from my old octocopter by attaching some depron to extend its wings. This will be replaced soon with a printable blade. My plan is to experiment with different transitions and incorporate them into this design in the near future. I'm eager to see how it performs with various modifications. Here's a rundown of the components used: * A 16" APC propeller, which will eventually be replaced by a printable blade * A piece of shrink tube to secure the propeller onto the shaft * An old CD drive closer motor to generate electricity (no power measurements yet) * A rubber band as a belt to drive the motor * A 3.3 Volt RGB LED You can check out my windmill in action by visiting this YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn8X9cie0DQ
