Airpod Holder for Keychain
thingiverse
I designed an accessory for my Apple Airpods case that allows me to attach it to a keychain or add a small light. However, I found a design on Thingiverse that was too thick and had a large hole, making it bulky. Since the part only needs to be over 1mm thick, I created my own design. I included two versions: one is 7mm high and the other is 14mm high, which are just slightly taller than 1/4" and 1/2". These heights allow me to use a Brother P-Touch labeler to put a label on top of the part. If you look closely at the picture of the part attached to my Airpods, you'll see a white Brother label. I airbrushed out the text because it included personal contact information. The prototype in the picture is the same thickness as the original design, but the STL files are only 1.1mm thick, which is about 1/3 of the original. The person who created the original design suggested installing this from the bottom to avoid pressure on the hinge if installed from the top. I think that's a good idea. I designed the part in Fusion 360 using parameter-driven software, so you can easily change the height or thickness without editing the design. Certain changes may require manual adjustments to fillet parameters, but you can ignore error messages and print the part anyway.
