Airplane (Real Airplane, not a toy!) Compass Bracket
thingiverse
This is a bracket I had come up with for a compass on one of my airplanes. Originally, I bought a windshield mount compass from a Beech or Cessna aircraft model, but I don't remember which one because I just replaced the windshield in my experimental XAIR and didn't want to drill holes into the new Lexan material. This bracket will attach to the overhead where I added a plate for a Ram Mount, giving me a secure place to mount the compass. Right now, I don't have any pictures of the compass and bracket installed yet because I have to go back to work tonight and won't have time until next week to take them. But in the meantime, here are the files you need to make this bracket. The base will fit a Ram Mount 3-hole adapter, which is commonly found at Aircraft Spruce online store. You can check it out here: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/ram34.php I plan on adding more useful items for experimental aircraft soon because I noticed there's a shortage of such things available online. Update: August 24, 2016 - I finally found some time to take some pictures. Print Settings: Printer: Dup I3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2 mm Infill: 35% Notes: Printed with PETG from Maker using 5mm holes
