Airoh GP500 Visor Lock

Airoh GP500 Visor Lock

This is a one-piece printable visor lock replacement for the Airoh GP500 motorcycle helmet. The original locking mechanism on my helmet failed prematurely due to its fragile design and subpar plastic quality. Initially, I considered copying the multipart design of the original lock and making slight adjustments for printability and stability. However, I eventually decided a one-piece solution might be more robust since the lock is not frequently opened or closed. It doesn't matter if it's a bit harder to actuate under these conditions. In reality, this one-piece visor lock works quite well and has proven reliable on my helmet for several years now. **Printing:** This part prints best with supports on FDM machines. I recommend printing at least three perimeters for added strength and 100% infill. Printing with a lower infill percentage won't make a significant difference in this small part.
