Airline Tube Siphon
thingiverse
Siphon ends are available in two diameters for standard aquarium airline tubing (3/16" or 5mm). Both options have the same length of 15 cm and can be printed without supports with walls as thin as 0.8mm, ensuring a solid print even when using nozzles as small as 0.4mm regardless of infill settings. The 3cm diameter siphon provides a gentle suction on the substrate, making it highly suitable for sand. In contrast, the 1.5cm diameter siphon has a much faster suction, which quickly evacuates debris but may also remove sand from the tank if not handled carefully. Printing with natural PLA or PETG results in translucent siphons that allow easy visual monitoring of debris moving through. This feature is particularly useful for small volume tanks, such as fry tanks, when changing water. On safety and longevity: Both PLA and PETG plastics are generally considered food safe, although some dyes and additives might not be suitable for consumption. To err on the side of caution, I opt for "natural" color prints. I recommend printing with PETG in the long term since PLA is biodegradable and may break down due to heat and water exposure, although it's reported to last over a year according to my research.
