Airlift pump for pond
thingiverse
I needed a pond pump system that could efficiently move large volumes of water while also adding oxygen to the aquatic environment. To achieve this, I combined the two functions into one system with only one moving component. This approach aimed to make the systems as low-maintenance and energy-efficient as possible. The system operates by injecting air into the water approximately 1 meter below its surface. This alteration in liquid density causes the water level in that section of the pipe to rise. Gravity then takes over, returning the liquid through another connected pipe. To inject air into the water at this depth, an air pump capable of delivering 10-20 liters per minute at 100 kilopascals (14.5 pounds per square inch) is required for each pipe.
