I'm testing this setup in my aquaponics greenhouse right now, and you might want to give it a shot for watering hard-to-reach plants. The short end of the pipe is connected to an aquarium aerator, providing air circulation. Scale down the dimensions to match your own tubing, but I'm using 1/4 inch aquarium hose. What's remarkable is how minimal air is required to lift water from a buried barrel to the ceiling, which is an astonishing 8 feet off the floor - essentially a 12 foot lift!
