AirHogs Heli Missile
thingiverse
My son asked me to make some prints for his new toy, so I created it. I assume he wants a spare, since he's likely to lose the one included with the purchase. To model it properly, I spent some time on the design. The flat area needs to be curved afterwards and the fillets can be smoothed out so that the missile fits well inside the helicopter ready to launch. I was hoping for a print without supports or rafts. Unfortunately, it didn't stand up straight during printing, so I cut it in two parts. Now I will try printing these separately and then assembling them. This approach worked really well - no need for extra support structures and there's minimal post-print cleanup required. A different version of the thing file is also available with a thinner missile shaft and different patterns for the holding rib to accommodate various types of helicopters that can launch this model.
