The Aires Sharp is a micro DLG with four servos for adjustable camber and various flight modes. Despite its small size, it boasts impressive performance. The wing was designed using XFLR5 software, testing multiple airfoils to achieve the highest lift-to-drag ratio and slowest flight speed for optimal sink rate. After identifying the most promising wing design in CAD, some geometry was manually bent and twisted based on intuition. As of 20160422, the DLG is still in testing with Prototype 2 nearly complete, featuring added reinforcements for increased wing loading. In a test flight, the Aires Sharp demonstrated its sharp design and precise alignment, cutting through the air and boasting impressive penetration. Future wings may see a slightly larger span to accommodate additional reinforcements while maintaining proper wing loading. The DLG features fully CNC molded wings, pod, and tails, with a 679mm wing span and an all-up weight of 48-51 grams.
