The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American-made fighter and attack plane that flew for the first time in 1938. During World War II, most Allied countries used this single-seater, metal fighter. It remained on the front lines until the end of the war, making it the third most-produced US fighter after the P-51 and P-47. By November 1944, when production stopped, a total of 13,738 had been built, all made at Curtiss-Wright Corporation's main factory in Buffalo, New York.
