Aircon Exhaust Adapter
thingiverse
Hi, last summer was scorching hot and I purchased an air conditioner to cool down. However, managing the exhaust tube has been a challenge. After thinking about it, I came up with a solution that I'm excited to share. The general idea behind my project is to create an exhaust system for the air conditioner using an acrylic window and some clever adapters. Here's how it works: First, I open the window and insert an acrylic sheet with a rectangular hole into the frame. This will serve as the base of our exhaust system. Next, I bought an angled adapter that connects a round tube to a rectangular outlet. I also purchased a grid part for the exterior of the air conditioner unit. Unfortunately, there wasn't a matching piece for the interior, but I was fortunate enough to have access to a 3D printer. Using my printer, I designed and printed a custom counterpart for the inside of the air conditioner unit. However, it turned out to be too large for my build plate, so I had to cut it in half. You'll need to print this piece twice, as it's essential for assembling the exhaust system. The bolts will help secure everything in place. Another important component is the clamps that hold the acrylic window firmly in position. To achieve this, I bought some metal fittings from the manufacturer and designed special clamps to keep the window securely fastened. Be cautious when positioning these metal fittings, as they can affect the window's ability to close properly. Lastly, I discovered an online service that offers pre-cut acrylic windows with a rectangular exhaust cutout and six holes for the clamps. This was a huge time-saver and made the entire process much easier.
