The Airbus A350 XWB is a family of modern long-range, two-engine wide-body jetliners manufactured by the European aviation giant, Airbus. It's the first Airbus with major parts made from carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, including fuselage and wings. The A350 can accommodate between 250 to 550 passengers depending on variant and seating layout. Initially proposed in 2004 as a largely new design but based on the A330's fuselage, it was redesigned and renamed A350 XWB in 2006. Airbus claims its fuel efficiency is up to 8% better than Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with operating costs to match. The first flight took place on June 14, 2013, and the production began in 2010. It's expected to be introduced in Q4 of 2014 for A350-900, mid-2016 for A350-800, and mid-2017 for A350-1000 variants. The unit cost varies from $260.9 million (A350-800) to $340.7 million (A350-1000).
