The Airbus A350 XWB family of long-range, wide-body airliners is being developed by Airbus. Initially proposed in 2004 as a development of the A330 with composite wings and new engines to compete with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus shifted to a clean-sheet XWB design in 2006 due to inadequate market support. This XWB design would be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB turbofan engines. The first prototype took flight on June 14, 2013, from Toulouse in France. Type certification was received from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in September 2014 and from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) two months later. The Blender 2.79 software is being used as the base software for this model.
