Airbrush Spray Booth Air Filter
thingiverse
I was working on an airbrush spray booth using a cardboard box the other day and decided I might want to filter out paint particles, even though it's acrylic. This design is based on a 12vdc, 80mm muffin fan, but when I put everything together, my fan didn't have enough power to pull smoke, let alone paint particles. I found a blower fan in my collection with over double the current draw of the muffin fan, which didn't fit my original design. Instead of redesigning the whole thing, I created an adapter plate. This design is intended for m3 countersunk screws, but I couldn't find these locally, so I had to drill out the holes to 1/8" and use 6-32 electrician screws instead. I'll provide both m3 and 6-32 sizes in case you need them. Depending on which version you choose, you'll need different hardware. **80mm Fan with Hood** * An 80mm fan (obviously) * 4x 35mm long m3 or 1-1/2" 6-32 screws * Print *[hood_optimal]* or *[hood_flat]* instead of *[adapter]* **Blower Fan** * A 102mm blower fan (similar to TYF140LJ05 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-V-DC-TOTO-Quiet-Blower-Fan-103-x-100-mm-2100-RPM-7-Watt-TYF140LJ05-/272456604640) * 4x 10mm long m3 or 3/4" 6-32 screws * 4x 40mm long m3 or 2" 6-32 screws (and 4x m4 nuts as spacers if using 6-32 screws) * Print *[adapter]* instead of *[hood]* For either option, print *[housing]*, *[insert]*, and *[tray]*. The filter is a standard coffee filter (although I'm thinking about trying pantyhose). Place the filter over the tray and press the insert down into the hole, pulling the filter down with it as you go. Once the insert is fully seated, tear or cut the edges off the filter flush with the tray. Slide the tray into the housing and you're done. Be sure to check and change the filter as needed. Check out the assembly photos if my explanation doesn't make sense. **Printing Notes** When printing the hood, it's better to print *[hood_optimal]* if possible with 29mm brim to minimize supports needed as well as printing time. If your bed's adhesion is spotty, feel free to print *[hood_flat]* instead. **NOTE** Due to either a Thingiverse bug or shadowbanning, my models no longer appear under the [Newest] listings. If you want to see more of my models, please be sure to 'follow' me. If you print this, it would really help if you'd post a 'make' so that others could find this model.
