Airbrush compressor
thingiverse
I am a very amateurish painter, mostly painting "dustcatchers", as my wife calls miniatures. I have one "nail painting airbrush set" but it is loud and lacks power, adjustment, and everything. In the times of Great Lockdown 2020, I had enough time to finally finish my compressor design. All components used should hold 10-bar operating pressure (fittings, hoses...). Again, this system works at 2.5 bar! All structural hardness is provided with 25x2 aluminum flat bars and fi12 pipes for distancing top and bottom tank holder. The compressor itself is heavy, and I don't think only printed parts would hold it. Rough sketch of wiring is provided. Pressure inside the system is regulated with a safety valve, adjusted to 2.2 bar. When pressure reaches that, the valve will start leaking excessive air out. There is some constant hissing while the compressor works, but I can live with that. Due to the nature of this kind of compressor, a good moisture separator is required. Unfortunately, I had no success with a pressure switch (3/2 bar) since my compressor only starts when the system is empty. *Mandatory* The hose that goes from the compressor to the first air connector has to be reinforced/braided. Air coming from the compressor is hot and will soften ordinary hose, which will blow! Don't ask how I know this. Get at least 20 cm of hose. I don't believe this compressor could run in a professional manner; it would overheat, but for me, 10 hours/week max is more than enough. All printed parts are made with ASA, except the leg and manometer holder are TPU. 4 walls, 0.25 layer, 5 layers top and bottom. No supports required. This design fits loads of compressor types since it's height and depth adjustable with aluminum flat bars. Bend them according to what you need. Tested at 3 bar, operating at 2.5 bar. STEP file is included. Parts needed: Compressor 4/6 air fittings 1/8" 4/6 air connectors T 4/6 hose 6 mm (inside) braided hose. Air separator Safety release valve 2.5 bar Adjustable pressure valve 2.5 m 25x2 aluminum flat bar 0.5 m fi12 aluminum pipe M3 screws and brass hot-pressed nuts of different lengths 4 x M8 screws with nuts. Tank (I used an empty 2 kg fire extinguisher) Again, if you don't know what you're doing, pass this design.
