Airboat part kit
thingiverse
This is a work-in-progress project aiming to create an airboat kit using interchangeable components. The core elements include a motor mount, a servo mount, and a rudder mechanism that can be assembled as new parts are modeled and printed. The motor mount was specifically designed for the Emax CF-2822 motor paired with a 10x5 propeller, which is what I had available at the time. As such, any motor utilizing identical 22mm diameter mounting holes should fit seamlessly, along with propellers smaller than the specified size. I'm utilizing 3/8" aluminum tubing as the primary structural component due to its availability for free (it was salvaged from a discarded pile on my sidewalk). However, it's also an affordable and easily sourced material. For added durability, I'm incorporating 3x5x5 brass inserts designed specifically for M3 screws. Currently, I'll be using M5 screws, but future modifications might involve switching to all M3 screws, converting the brass inserts into captive nuts. The rudder mount consists of two identical pieces of aluminum tubing. Rudder blades will need to be cut from depron or similar sheet-like materials and then attached to printed components featuring control horns. For servo linkages, I'll employ a simple yet effective pull-pull configuration utilizing nylon string for a few key connections.
