Air Raid Siren - Remix (and Gear Pin Repair) Printing the largest parts was a major pain point, so I decided to cut them at points where they would make decent glue joints and ensure the parts fit on the print bed as intended. If your gear pin breaks off, drill through its center with a 3/8" bit. Then, poke the STL file through the back and confirm it fits, then glue it in place. I'm printing a new pin at 50% infill. The v3 pin has a larger surface area, adding strength to the housing's back. Legend: SirHa_Gehaeuse1 has been divided into GearHousing1, GearHousing2, and GearHousing3. SirHa_Gehaeuse2 has been split into RotorHousing1 and RotorHousing2. Note that RotorHousing2 is pushing my limits, so I made an alternate cut for smaller print beds. The alternate parts for SirHa_Gehaeuse2 are cut with a less optimal glue joint, but will fit on even smaller print beds. The less-than-ideal files are: RotorHousing1alt and RotorHousing2alt. Some claim that superglue doesn't work well with plastic, but the glue in one of my images is amazing! This post is worth collecting if you need a reminder about the best glue for PLA, ABS, and PETG plastics. Print Settings Printer: Flashforge Creator Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.30 Infill: 20% Notes: I added custom supports to RotorHousing2. The built-in supports were too thin for Simplify3D slicer, so I created a factory file for users of Simply3D, which will save time messing with manual supports. This was printed with PETG by accident, but it has some interesting qualities that will come in handy for other projects.
