Air Muscle Valve
thingiverse
Warning: The O-ring slots need to be adjusted in size before a working model can be built. Several other attributes will likely require tweaking. This valve is designed for mini pneumatic PAM pneumatic artificial muscle applications. It's a 3-way valve with three positions. In the center position, all flow is blocked, and on either side, it pressurizes or exhausts. This setup could also work well for small spring return air cylinders. This model is intended to be modified further to create blocks of multiple valves. To complete this part, you'll need to do some lathe work. A 3mm steel or stainless steel rod should have two rounded indents, each .8mm deep and 3mm wide, placed 5mm to the left and right of center (5mm from center to center of the indents). This design also assumes a straw with a 3mm ID will be glued in place at either end for attaching electromagnetic coils. You'll need five orings, each 5mm OD, 3mm ID, and 1mm thick. The inputs accept the same hose diameter as specified in my pneumatic muscle design. Explanation: S = supply or source, connect to an air supply tank or compressor E = exhaust, leave open or route it to a necessary location P = power/work, connect to an air muscle assembly Future developments: Aside from laser guns and personal jetpacks, I will design additional elements and sizes (entirely metric) once these two key components are refined. Please take these designs and improve upon them. More importantly, please contact me with your innovations! This model was created using Tinkercad.
