Air mixer handle for jewellery torch
thingiverse
I designed this modified handle for our jewelry torches at school to make it easier for students to use. Some kids had trouble turning the small screw valve on the air mixer, and they occasionally accidentally locked the lock ring into place, which caused threads to strip on the mixer, rendering it useless. This new handle allows for extra turning force and cleverly conceals the lock ring, preventing accidental locks. Printing Settings Rafts: None Needed Supports: Unnecessary Resolution: Precise 0.3mm Layers Infill Density: 100% Solid Material Notes: I created this using our school's Velleman K8200 printer with a high infill density to make the part more robust and provide stable backing for the threaded insert. Post-Printing Process After Cooling Down, Modification Once the print was cool, I drilled out the initial hole to 4.2mm diameter to accept a M5 tap. Then, I carefully hand-threaded an M5 thread into the mixer to securely attach the new handle using a grub screw.
