From what I understand you put moistened potting soil or peat moss in the 2 halves, put it around the branch and then tie some twine, tie wrap or wire around it (or screw & nut). Keep it watered & after 5 to 7 weeks you have a new plant with roots ready to cut off and transplant. I'm going to try it out on some blueberry & pomegranate bushes. The one in the picture is on a 16mm fig tree watersprout. In retrospect, the plant prop should be made of clear or translucent plastic so you can see when the roots are grown without having to take it apart and then the whole thing should be covered with opaque plastic to block out light and hold in moisture because the print is porous, and then covered with white plastic to repel heat. Some plastic is white on one side & black on the other which would be perfect. Some packages come with plastic envelope mailers wrapped around the boxes made of such a material. Update 7/26/21 Success!! I posted some picture of 2 pomegranates & a fig tree that I made cuttings from. I left them on longer than I should have, but they look fine. I will leave them in the pots till early spring next year to transplant to give the roots more time to develop and spread out. The next step is to make a gigantic one and try it out on some even larger cuttings next summer. The following variables are adjustable in the SCAD file. The larger side should face up and is larger so you can add water if it starts to dry out.
