An HVAC system relies on an air handler, often abbreviated as AHU, to regulate and circulate air.[1] Typically, an air handler is a large metal box housing a blower, heating or cooling components, filter racks or chambers, sound dampeners, and dampers.[2] Air handlers usually connect to a ductwork ventilation system that distributes conditioned air throughout the building before returning it to the AHU. Sometimes AHUs directly supply and return air to and from the space served without relying on ductwork.
